A New View from Retrobottega

Rooftop terrace at Palazzo Rhinoceros at Retrobottega

A familiar restaurant can acquire an entirely different perspective. In its 2026 chapter, Retrobottega moves to the upper level of Palazzo Rhinoceros, where the Velabro and Rome's ancient landscape become the setting for Alessandro Miocchi and Giuseppe Lo Iudice's continuing culinary conversation.

The building adds its own reason to visit. Reworked by Jean Nouvel as part of Alda Fendi's cultural project, Rhinoceros brings architecture and art into the approach to dinner. Arriving here gives the evening a sense of discovery before the menu has even reached the table.

Retrobottega's new setting includes a terrace, with a programme of music and other events adding a further dimension on selected dates. Restaurant service and the terrace programme offer different experiences, so make the booking around the evening you actually want. Ask about the current menu and the seating arrangements as part of that conversation.

This is an address for people who enjoy seeing how a restaurant develops and how a new room changes the occasion around the food. Come curious, give the building some attention and look out over the city between courses. Sometimes the next chapter of a Roman favourite begins by moving a few floors closer to the sky.
